BANKSIA PICNIC AREA

Public BBQ

Banksia Picnic Area serves as the main access point for the Strickland Falls Track, a 1.8km loop that takes about 40 minutes return. The picnic area provides several seating areas, fire pits for campstove BBQs (visitors need to bring their own firewood or charcoal), and pit toilets that are regularly maintained. A mobile coffee van sometimes operates near the site, which sits conveniently close to the highway between Sydney and Woy Woy. The walking trail showcases rainforest scenery with tree ferns, elkhorns, and gymea lilies lining the path. The waterfall itself is modest but provides a worthwhile destination for stretching legs during travel. The area stays dog-friendly with waste bags provided at the trailhead, and the trails see regular use by locals walking their dogs. The ground remains soggy for extended periods after rain, making proper footwear essential. Leeches can be present during wet conditions. Despite the simple facilities, the area maintains a clean, peaceful atmosphere with minimal crowds.
